Inspiring way

The Old Port of Getxo is a very authentic place. One of its strategic points is located in a small square. Under maples ‘shade, sipping on some Rioja wine, having a conversation with white-bearded sailors, arrantzales* fixing and working on their boats and the local farmers selling tomatoes on the walls that protected the medieval town.

After sampling a grilled sea bass caught that morning, we went to the yachting port. There, a very special boat was waiting for us: La mar de bien. The good sea took us up to Bilbao (Basque Country, Spain).

Our collaborator, the guide Unai Manzanos, accompanied us as our host. He helped us discover the city from another perspective, to understand the process of transformation of Bilbao (World Design Capital 2014). His way of telling stories and answering in-depth all our guests ‘questions helped us to finish our journey with a hug on the dock near the Guggenheim.
