Experience in the most beautiful Museum in the world
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao was named the most beautiful museum in the world 2016 by the magazine “Conde Nast Traveler.” So imagine the feeling when you contemplate the sunset from its atrium, while chatting with other peers, sipping on a cocktail.
This is the perfect time to deepen and ask the people celebrating and sharing this special moment with me what do they take with them from our private tour.
” The canvas of Ives Klein, I would have never imagined that was created after a performance, with two nude models painted with its patented blue, crawling along the route he marked. Texture, colors and shapes, they were just mesmerizing”.
” De Kooning, one of the few works of abstract expressionism inspired by a landscape: the Roman garden that, every day, the artist visited during his stay in Europe. It was amazing that, once he returned to NY, he missed that place so much that needed a canvas to express what he felt during those walks. I ‘m looking forward to visit Rome and tour the Villa Borghese Gardens. “
” Motherwell and his obsession with Spain. All his life he associated Spain with joy, color and life and then, he got to know it and discovered Franco, the desolation, the lack of freedom and the darkness. A shocking reaction and very suggestive the corner open to hope.”
Before entering the auditorium to finish the evening listening exclusively to Joshua Edelman, I talk about all this inspiration with our go Basquing host, a Contemporary Art historian.
He answered with a phrase of Maeterlinck, which I asked if he could write in my travel journal: nothing in the whole world is so athirst for beauty as the soul, nor is there anything to which beauty clings so readily… And on this earth of ours there are but few souls that can withstand the dominion of the soul that has suffered itself to become beautiful.
