In the Basque Country, in the waters of the Cantabrian Sea, you can find one of the oldest sailing clubs in Spain. In order to bid farewell to the year, it organizes a regatta which ends at a suspension bridge declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Afterwards, all the sailors of the more than 80 participating sailing boats have lunch at the splendid club’s facilities, where the main dish is a red-bean soup which helps them warm up.
When we welcome a smaller group to this club, we prefer to take them to a unique place, hidden from walkers’ sight and private entrance: the floating Txoko* which symbolizes the beginning of this institution.
*Txoko means corner, in Basque; cozy corner to enjoy the company of friends and colleagues. A more private space, perfect for a strategic meeting after a regatta between teams or celebrating a meal made out of our local products and returning to the center of Bilbao by boat through the estuary, discovering the urban development of this UNESCO Creative City of Design.
